World Series of Poker in the 90's
With the '90s came the internet boom. It's effect on the World Series of Poker would not been seen this decade,
but would immentently change it forever. The number of Main Event participants grew in small increments eventually
going over the 300 mark. The event continued to be held at Binion's Horseshoe and the landscape of the event remained
mostly unchanged with the same names and faces. The prize for first place hit $1,000,000 in 1991, providing a bit of
clout for the WSOP and especially the winner. Even though the World Champion would become a millionaire, there still
were no real poker celebrities, despite annual coverage by ESPN, but that would change in the next decade.
